Friends expand library services

To the editor:

Members of the Person County Public Library staff would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Friends of the Person County Public Library. The Friends are a dedicated group of advocates for the library and contribute their time and expertise to significantly enhance our services.

Recently the Friends of the Library held their fall used book sale. The three-day event generated revenue to be used toward expanding the library’s collections and enhancing library services to the community.

Thank you to all of the Friends members, Roxboro Community School Beta Club, ROTC, and the volunteers who helped to make the sale successful!

Also a big thank you to the local businesses that posted fliers, and to The Courier Times and WKRXWRXO for help in advertising the sale.

Our Friends group began in 1988 and over the course of the past 27 years has provided incredible support to the library.

To highlight a few of their accomplishments, they have sponsored children and adult programs, purchased library materials, furniture, and equipment.

The library is a source of pride for our community and our Friends group is a source of pride as well.

The week of October 15- 21 is National Friends of the Library Week.

Help us celebrate by joining this outstanding group.

We invite you to their annual meeting on Tuesday, November 14 at 5:30 p.m. to learn more.
